Why Does Second Chance Month Matter?

As April ushers in spring, Community Renewal Society (CRS) proudly unites with the nation in acknowledging Second Chance Month! This designation holds profound significance for us as we champion just reentry and equitable opportunities for all.

Second Chance Month serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of redemption and the inherent humanity and dignity of every individual, irrespective of their previous involvement in the criminal legal system. Aligned with our issue area of Restoring Opportunities and Justice Reform, it spotlights the pressing need for policies supporting post-incarceration reunification.

For countless individuals impacted by incarceration, Second Chance Month represents a beacon of hope, a time to break free from stigma and pursue a future filled with promise. As we commemorate this month, CRS invites you to join our efforts toward just reentry, justice reform, and restoration opportunities.

Let’s advocate for meaningful change, promoting the ability for every individual with a criminal record to have a second chance in life. Join the conversation and movement to advance just reentry and justice reform!

Second Chance Month is a catalyst for positive progress. Together, we can build Beloved Community where everyone can thrive, regardless of their past.
