5 Ways to Promote Civic Engagement by Your Congregation

Politics from the Pulpit

  • Include information about the election and the issues at stake. Providing education around issues such as criminal justice reform, police accountability and voting rights helps inform your members and emboldens them to take action on these and other topics of concern to your community.

  • Reach out to CRS to schedule a staff member or volunteer to speak about social justice.

 Encourage Voter Registration

  • Staff a table with voter registration information before or after services or other gatherings. If you are located in Cook County, you can provide this link in your congregation’s newsletter. While advance registration is preferred, voters may also register on election day by providing two forms of ID.

Promote Important Election Dates

  • Primary Election - June 28, 2022. It is important to vote during the primary as the candidates for Governor will be selected by each party during this election.

  • General Election – November 8, 2022

  • Chicago Mayoral Election - February 23, 2023

  • District Council Elections - February 23, 2023

Host a Public Education or Voter Registration Event
