Help CRS Build Voter Engagement in 2022

As we approach the upcoming election season, Community Renewal Society will engage our network by encouraging voting in 2022. We will provide information about the choices voters will make during the primary in June and the general election in November. Your vote will determine if we have leaders in place who will serve our communities and work with those communities to eliminate racism and poverty.

Voting sets the tone for political engagement and strong voter engagement strengthens our work at CRS.  We must have candidates who will create change in our communities and elected officials who we can hold accountable for this change. A great example of this is the delay by the Chicago City Council in appointing members of the Community Commission for Public Safety. The establishment of this commission before January 1, 2022, was a requirement of the Empowering Communities for Public Safety Ordinance which passed with the help of CRS in July 2021.

This election year will affect residents of Chicago through judicial and aldermanic elections, and residents of Illinois through the race for Governor, as well as other statewide offices.

To make sure you are on track for voting in June, we provide resources and a few tasks to complete.

  1. Check that your voter registration is up to date. If you haven’t voted in the past, register today

  2. Sign up to vote by mail in Chicago or Suburban Cook County if that is your preference.

  3. Let CRS know that you care about Voting Rights.  We’ll send you updates and opportunities to encourage voter engagement in your congregation and community.

  4. Learn about being an election worker and sign up for training.

  5. Take this survey about judges up for retention in June offered by the Chicago Council of Lawyers.
