Sis. Fasika Y. Alem

CRS announces Sis. Fasika Y. Alem, Programs Director at the United African Organization, as a speaker for our virtual 2023 Annual Membership Assembly (AMA) on November 9 at 6:30 PM CT. Read her bio below.

Sis. Fasika Y. Alem is the Programs Director at the United African Organization (UAO), a coalition-based not-for-profit that promotes social and economic justice, civic participation and empowerment among African immigrants and refugees in Illinois. At UAO, Sis. Fasika Y. Alem leads the organization’s public policy advocacy and community organizing work, building relationships with other organizations and coalitions locally and nationally. She also serves as a co-chair of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights’ Action Council and sits on the board of the Refugee Action Network. Fasika holds MPH and PHD degrees in public health from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

We are eager to reflect on our work together with member congregations, coalition partners and community members in building Beloved Community.
