Jessica ArandaAfter two years as a day laborer organizer at the Latino Union of Chicago, Jessica Aranda became the organization’s executive director in 2003. Her previous work includes community organizing around issues of land use, immigration, housing, and wage theft. She is also a certified interpreter and translator. Originally from New Mexico, Ms. Aranda gained her Bachelors degree in Cultural Anthropology and Latin American Studies. Under her direction the Latino Union established the first Workers’ Center for corner day laborers in the Midwest and successfully negotiated an end to police harassment of day laborers in Cicero. |
