Wanda De Cwikiel-Avila

Wanda De Cwikiel-Avila was born and raised in Chicago. She has been a volunteer with church and several community agencies since the age of 14. She received her Bachelor’s in Social Work from the Jane Addams College at UIC in 1994 and studied professional music training for voice for 8 years. Since 1996, she is a co-founder and the current Executive Director, Co-Facilitator and Counselor at La Familia Unida, a bi-lingual, Spanish/English, social service agency. She believes that her personal mission in life is directly connected to her work. Wanda is multi-ethnic and was raised in the community where she works and lives, which makes her contribution diverse and unique. She is also married to Jose Luis Avila, also a co-founder and therapist at LFU and they have two children, Sara and Yoali.
