Civic Action Network: Developing Leadership

People and organizations who lead social-change campaigns at any level develop their know- how and skill over time at the intersection of action and reflection. Good leaders are not born - they evolve. Civic Action understands the ingredients of effective public leadership and works to develop it among member congregations and community-based organizations and coalitions. Through providing organizing and leadership development training, mentoring for member congregations and individual leaders Civic Action maintains a commitment to building and sustaining the capacity for change.

  • 70 individuals from community-based organizations participated in Civic Action's three-day community organizing and leadership development training.
  • Hundreds of individuals received training on successful advocacy and organizing techniques and deepened their knowledge on the issues addressed by the Civic Action Network.
  • Civic Action Staff developed a new training program to develop congregational leadership on organizing and advocating for social justice.
