Blog Series on the Affordable Care Act

One of the hot button topics as the election approaches is the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the health reform law recently upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. Although the ACA was enacted 2 ½ years ago and implementation has begun, there still is a lot of misinformation about the ACA. Americans still are asking “What does the law mean for me?”

In the coming weeks, Robin Scott will be writing individual blogs on particular provisions of the ACA. We are privileged to have Robin volunteering for us given her extensive public health and policy expertise. She has spent the majority of her career working in the policy analysis field, most recently spending 12 years at the Chicago Department of Public Health as a Senior Health Policy Analyst. Robin plans to cover the following topics over the course of the next few weeks:

  • The patient’s bill of rights
  • Preventive services
  • Community health centers
  • Medicare
  • Medicaid Expansion
  • The Health Insurance Exchanges

Take a look at her first post, which focuses on the medical loss ratio, entitled The Check’s in the Mail and check back weekly for future posts!
