Eddie Bocanegra currently serves as senior director of the READi Chicago initiative at Heartland Alliance. Other professional experience includes serving as co-executive director of the YMCA’s Youth and Safety Violence Prevention program, a violence interrupter with the Chicago Violence Prevention Project (Ceasefire), and as an art activist at Enlace Chicago. Mr. Bocanegra also was the Organizer for the Chicago West Suburbs and The FORCE Project at Community Renewal Society, and his involvement with the project has continued. Mr. Bocanegra shares his own experiences as a person with a criminal record with organizations, community groups, and at risk individuals in an effort to help others live better lives. His story was featured in the 2011 film, The Interrupters. He recently received a master’s degree from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration.
