Community Renewal Society Announces Six New Board Members

The Community Renewal Society announced the addition of six new members to its Board of Directors

November 15, 2007 - Chicago, IL - The Community Renewal Society today announced the addition of six new members to its Board of Directors:

JOYCE BRISTOW is retired from the Chicago Board of Education where she served as Area Instruction Officer. During her tenure at the Chicago Board of Education, Ms. Bristow also served as Executive Assistant to the Chief Education Officer and as Principal of Robert A. Black Magnet School.

REV. SETH CAREY is the Associate Minister at First Congregational Church of Glen Ellyn.
Reverend Carey holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Religious Studies from SCSU and a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School. As Associate Minister for the First Congregational Church of Glen Ellyn, Rev. Carey helps to coordinate Sunday worship services, adult spiritual formation, and the youth and young adult ministries of the church.

ED PRENTICE is the President of Centrax Corporation, a custom interactive E-Learning solutions company. Mr. Prentice founded Centrax Corporation in 1985 originally as a video production company; in 1995 Centrax moved to the Internet for program delivery. Centrax clients including ABN AMRO, Fifth Third Bank, Siemens, Kraft, Allstate, Grainger, Lucent, Wrigley, BNSF, and the American Medical Association among others.

SILVIA RIVERA is the general manager of Radio Arte, national award winning youth initiative of the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum (MFACM). Ms. Rivera serves on the Board of Directors of the National Federation of Community Broadcasters and is committed to using media and the arts to empower youth & marginalized peoples. She previously served on the Community Renewal Society Associate Board.

YOLANDA WAGGONER FOREMAN is Chief Administrative/Compliance Officer with United Investment Managers. She has served on Community Renewal Society’s Budget and Finance Committee. Yolanda was previously with The Kenwood Group as their Vice President of Marketing.

REV. REGINALD W. WILLIAMS is Associate Pastor for Justice Ministries at Trinity United Church of Christ. Rev. Williams works with ministries that seek to provide support in various areas of social concern, as well as advocate on the local, state, and national levels for equal opportunities and justice for God's children. He previously served on the Community Renewal Society Associate Board.

"We are delighted to bring such a diverse and talented group of individuals to our Board," said Rev. Calvin Morris, PhD, Community Renewal's executive director. "As Community Renewal Society continues to address some of the region’s greatest challenges, these new voices will provide the vision and leadership needed to realize our goal of a just and equitable society."

Community Renewal's member congregations approved the new directors at the organizations annual meeting on November 7. Directors are elected to three year terms.

Community Renewal Society is a progressive, faith-based organization that works to eliminate race and class barriers. Founded in 1882, Community Renewal informs, organizes and trains both communities and individuals to advocate for social and economic justice.
