Todd Dietterle

Todd Dietterle joined the Community Renewal Society in 2006. He supervises a team that works with diverse communities in the Chicago Metropolitan region to overcome race and class barriers through direct organizing, coalition-building, training organizers and mentoring social change organizations.

Prior to joining Community Renewal Society he served as Vice President at Wilhelm & Conlon Public Strategies where he helped organizations develop winning public policy and community organizing strategies. Earlier he served as Vice President of the Woods Fund of Chicago where he directed the Community Organizing Grant Program and launched successful initiatives in the areas of tax and economic policy affecting low-income individuals and workers, affordable housing policy and capacity-building efforts for non-profit organizations.

Mr. Dietterle has nearly three decades of experience with social change organizations both in the United States and internationally. He has served in executive positions with the Chicago Alliance for Neighborhood Safety and the United Neighborhood Organization, Chicago's largest Latino organizing and advocacy organization. He also worked as a regional organizer with Bread for the World, a Washington, D.C.-based citizen's lobby to reduce hunger. He initiated successful housing and nutrition projects in Honduras and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Colombia, South America where he helped introduce the Special Olympics program. He is a graduate of Ohio University and earned a Master of Theological Studies at Boston University.
