FORCE Leader, Eddie Bocanegra, has many things that define him. “I am an executive director, board member, graduate of a top university, father of four little girls, home owner, and sibling of members of our country’s armed forces,” Eddie explains.
A little bit over eight years ago, Eddie came home from prison. He learned quickly that people with records are not in a protected class. The experience of discrimination in employment, housing, and education is very real among returning citizens.
In the face of these unjust barriers, Eddie sees Community Renewal Society’s FORCE initiative as one of the most developed programs that helps organize, develop, and support people with records, all with the purpose of changing policies to benefit people with records and their families.
There’s a large gap that separates people who are being released from prison and their families from the rest of society. Help close that gap by supporting FORCE and empowering those who are directly impacted by mass incarceration to fight for just systems.
Help people with records create a new narrative. Make a gift to FORCE on #GivingTuesday, November 29 (or before)!
