Day of Faith at the Capitol Recap

The Capitol was awash in orange t-shirts on Tuesday, May 9, as Community Renewal Society spoke truth to power through legislative meetings and public celebration during our annual Day of Faith. Help us keep the momentum going strong by taking action on key issues and investing in the ongoing work of justice today!

While in Springfield, we gained key sponsors for legislation that will make our communities stronger and safer. Representative Camille Y. Lilly, dedicated champion and sponsor of our work, testified to Community Renewal Society’s leadership on creating effective change in Illinois:
“Community Renewal Society has educated me beyond my belief. I am a different person because of you…We want you to know that community advocates and community leaders make sound policy in the State of Illinois.”
We also celebrated two amazing coalition leaders who had their health care licenses reinstated during the Day of Faith! They are the first individuals with records to recover their health care licenses in Illinois, thanks to the work of Community Renewal Society’s FORCE initiative, in partnership with RROCI (Restoring Rights and Opportunities Coalition of Illinois).

At the end of the day, FORCE leader Quintin Williams reminded us, “We are not done. We have a lot of work to do!” Less than two weeks remain for this session of the Illinois General Assembly. Do your part by contacting your elected officials and making a donation now
