Over the past few months the staff at The Chicago Reporter has won several awards including eight Lisagor awards and a Herman Kogan award. The Reporter journos are also finalist for the 2012 Salute to Excellence Awards presented by the National Association of Black Journalists.
In April, Editor Kimbriell Kelly and Reporter Angela Caputo were honored for meritorious achievement in the print category for the Chicago Bar Association’s 23rd Herman Kogan Media Awards competition. They were honored for their investigation on Chicago Housing Authority’s “one-strike” eviction policy.
In May, the Reporter won eight Lisagor Awards at a ceremony Friday night at the Union League Club—an office record. It was a great night as hundreds attended the event to honor the city’s best journalism. Here’s the full list of awards the staff won that night.
The Reporters are also finalists for the 2012 Salute to Excellence Awards presented by the National Association of Black Journalists. The Reporter has four investigative projects honored as finalists for magazines with a circulation under 1 million. Winners will be announced at NABJ’s awards gala in New Orleans in this month.
Congratulations to The Chicago Reporter for continuing to produce award winning investigations.
