Rev. Samuel Paul was born in Chicago, Illinois and attended public schools, graduating from DuSable High School. After earning a B.S. degree in Political Science, Social Work and Sociology from the University of Dubuque (Iowa), he returned to Chicago to establish careers in Child Welfare (with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services), in education (with the Chicago Public School system) and in Ministry. He currently serves as the Associate Pastor of Greater Pleasant Green M.B. Church in Morgan Park. Rev. Paul has earned master's degrees in Urban Teaching, Instructional Leadership and School Administration with a Type 75 State license from Concordia University Chicago and a Master of Divinity degree from the School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia. Rev. Paul began his life as an activist and advocate for social justice in the early 1970s while in the state of Iowa. His passion for equity, equality and justice for all continues to provide momentum as he has worked as an intern, a Listening Fellow and a volunteer with the Community Renewal Society for the past two years. He is currently active as a member of the CRS Police Issues Team and the Coalition for Police Contract Accountability. Rev. Paul is divorced, the father of three adult children and a grandfather of three.
