Takin’ It to the Streets Festival & Summit is coming August 6, 2016!

An international festival where artistic expression, spirituality and urban creativity inspire social change.

Since 1997, Takin’ It to the Streets has worked to bridge today’s cultural divides by connecting diverse racial, ethnic, and religious communities through a dynamic festival. The festival will enrich cross-cultural community building not only in Chicago, but around the world.

‘Streets is recognized throughout the city and country as a one-of-a-kind outdoor gathering that brings people together across faith and ethnicity and from all walks of life to proactively engage one another through artistic expression, community forums, spiritual reflection, family fun and an international bazaar. Peter Lisagor Awards for Exemplary Journalism

Short Description: 

The Chicago Headline Club just announced finalists for the 39th annual Peter Lisagor Awards for Exemplary Journalism, which recognizes the best journalism in the state. Catalyst Chicago and The Chicago Reporter received nine nominations. Wish us luck!

Linda Lenz, Chicago Catalyst publisher and founder, will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Lisagor awards dinner will be held Friday May 6, 2016, at The Union League Club of Chicago, 65 W. Jackson St. Cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner and awards presentation is at 7 p.m.

Presented by Community Renewal Society's Organizing staff and focused on faith-based principles, this three-day training identifies key organizing principles, how values influence those principles, and how you can become an effective organizer and leader. This June course will be offered in partnership with Bexley Seabury Seminary Federation.
