Rev. Al Sharp will participate in a panel discussion on current and future cannabis policy in Illinois at a free, public event at Roosevelt University.

Please join Chicago’s Roosevelt University at its upcoming May 19 event for the release of a timely new report, Patchwork Policy, which closely examines the latest findings on marijuana arrests in Illinois. The free, public event will feature a panel discussion on current and future cannabis policy in Illinois. Joining the panel are Rev. Al Sharp from Community Renewal Society, Beth Johnson from Cabrini Green Legal Aid, Jim Leitzel from University of Chicago, and Cook County Commissioner John Fritchey. On hand will be principal author Kathie Kane-Willis, who will discuss highlights.

Minimum Wage and Responsible Budget Lobby Day

Short Description: 

Join advocates from across the state in Springfield to tell legislators it's time to raise the minimum wage and pass a responsible budget by making the 5% income tax rate permanent.

Times: 
May 22, 2014 - 6:30am to 7:00pm

Join our state-wide Raise Illinois coalition in Springfield on Thursday, May 22 to tell your legislators it's time to raise the minimum wage. There will also be a noon rally at the Capitol in support of a responsible budget with the extension of the 5% income tax rate. Buses will leave Chicago at 6:30 am. Community Renewal Society Leadership Council Meeting

Core leaders from CRS member congregations come together several times a year to build relationships, make decisions, build new skills, and take action.

Times:

Join leaders from CRS member congregations around the state as we come together to:

  • Debrief the legislative session, celebrate victories and plan next steps
  • Meet with our legislative champions
  • Build relationships with leaders from other congregations
  • Receive training on canvassing
