Martin Luther King, Jr. Faith in Action Assembly Recap

Thank you!

We shared an amazing morning filled with devotion, celebration, recognition, education and community collaboration.

Our morning kicked off with the Liberty Baptist band leading a choir assembled from member congregations. With a packed house of approximately 1000 people, almost every area of Cook County was represented with 120 congregations, community allies and coalition partners in attendance. Rev. Veronica Johnson gave the keynote. We celebrated the signing of the Combating Illegal Gun Trafficking Act. We hosted a Chicago Mayoral Candidate Forum. And, our youth blessed us with a benediction on “Knowledge Action Change.” (See Facebook Album)

Our assembly caught the attention of the press (read CRS in the news) and #MLK #WeAreCRS trended on twitter in Chicago but we are most interested in hearing about your experience. Give us your feedback on the event and make a commitment to the work of CRS.

Chicago Mayoral Candidate Scorecard

CRS introduced member congregations to the candidates by providing an opportunity to ask questions about the issues that are most important to our communities. We asked them a series of "yes" or "no" questions. See the scorecard >
