Activate Your Holiday

Martin Luther King, Jr. Faith in Action Assembly

Community Renewal Society responds to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s call to put our faith in action by hosting an annual assembly on the holiday commemorating his life and work. Since its inception in 2012, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Faith in Action Assembly has served as a lively discussion and action-oriented forum around social justice advocacy for thousands in the Chicago metropolitan area. Join us!

Assembly topics will explore issues related to the CRS Platform for Renewal.

I left the event feeling connected to a cause and a community and inspired to continue to work for social justice, in whatever way I can, large or small. As Dr. King said, ‘injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.’
— Betsy Bowen

Become an Advocate

Winter Leadership Council Meeting

Learn how bills become laws in Illinois. Practice running effective legislative meetings. Receive policy updates on our legislative priorities. Train to become a team captain for the Day of Faith at the Capitol … and more!

Community Renewal Society’s Leadership Council meets at least twice a year, typically in winter and summer. Attending the Leadership Council allows members of member congregations to participate in planning strategy for CRS. This is the time when CRS leaders have the opportunity to build their organizing skills and participate in the decision-making process. We encourage Faith in Action Teams to send four to five leaders in order to fully engage in the process.
