Rev. Ronald Howell reflects on why he is standing with clergy and community leaders to urge Governor Rauner and the General Assembly to choose revenue over deadly state budget cuts.

More than 50 years ago, a Boston attorney named Joseph N. Welch stopped Sen. Joseph McCarthy in his tracks with the words: “Have you no sense of decency, sir?” It is time to ask Gov. Bruce Rauner the same question.

FORCE leader, Floyd Stafford, recently testified before the Illinois House Elementary and Secondary Education Committee to support HB 494 to remove life-time hiring bans in schools for people with past drug convictions who have turned their lives around.

We come today to not only stand for justice, and to secure justice, but because we have been summoned to do justice. We come with a sense of a divine calling; a “MUST” has been laid upon us; an irresistible compulsion.
