Just Economy for Safe Communities

This was a good year for CRS’ platform for restoring opportunities and building a just economy for safe communities. The General Assembly passed several of our priority bills.

Our work to stop illegal guns from entering our communities continues in a new effort, SB 337 SA 3, the Combating Illegal Gun Trafficking Act.

After years of trying to license gun dealers in Illinois, the House finally passed SB 1657.

It all started with people in churches listening to each other. And it wasn’t about gossip or chitchat. During evening meetings, group gatherings, and one-on-one conversations, trained listeners asked their fellow congregants about the concerns they have for their local community of Arlington Heights.

The fight to license gun dealers in Illinois is not over, even though SB 1657, the Gun Dealer Licensing Act, was not called for a vote.

Gun violence touches all of us. Last year in Illinois more than 4,300 people were shot and 720 died, many of them children. We can do something now...

After 736 days, a bipartisan budget package passed both chambers of the Illinois General Assembly. Thank YOU for your tireless advocacy efforts!

Join us for the Day of Faith at the Capitol on May 9 when we will celebrate and acknowledge the great work of FORCE.

Calling all Faith in Action advocates!  We are midway through the 2017 spring legislative session and your voice is needed to bring justice to Springfield.
