This event will be rescheduled in late October.
Free legal clinic to expunge non-violent offenses
In an effort to give members of the community a second chance, I’m pleased to invite you to our upcoming Expungement Summit on Tuesday, August 6 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Northeastern Illinois University’s Satellite campus, “El Centro."
I strongly believe that our past is a tool for creating the future we envision for ourselves, and that our criminal justice system has stripped that agency from too many people. The stigma that accompanies convictions has hindered far too many people’s professional and social lives. That is why my office and I have put together our first Expungement Summit.
At the event, we'll have volunteer lawyers on hand walking people through the process of expunging eligible crimes from their records from start to finish. Additionally, we'll have materials on hand that will help point people to other resources such as job opportunities and education.
While demanding, the expungement process is a tool that has the potential to completely reshape lives, and we plan to help as many people as possible through the process. Anyone interested in attending the summit should begin preparing now to ensure a smooth process on August 6. Before the event, there are a few preliminary steps for your expungement to be successful. This event is free and open to the public. Will you share the flyer below with your network to help us get folks to this event who need this service?
For more information about the Expungement Summit, please call state Rep. Guzzardi’s full-time constituent service office at (773) 853-2570 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finally, we need volunteers to help the event run smoothly. Can you sign up to help us day-of? Fill out this form: https://forms.gle/r7sE1cMf497AbjfN6
