Issue-Focused, Relationship-Based, Change-Motivated Organizing & Policy

Our Policy and Organizing Departments collaborate to overcome the barriers of poverty and racism through congregational organizing, policy analysis, and direct lobbying. The Organizing Department staff provides Advocacy and Organizational training, mentoring, guidance, information and materials. A Membership Leadership Council makes ongoing legislation and campaign implementation decisions over the course of the year.

Change-Activating Training

CRS offers regular training opportunities for member congregations and outside leaders and organizations. Building powerful, knowledgeable leaders who can impact change is central to the mission of CRS. If you would like us to bring an individualized training to your church, school, or organization, contact Andrea Hall, or 312–673-3840.

Justice-Powered Policy

Our Policy Department works with our congregational leaders and Issue Team members, community coalitions, and elected officials in state and county legislative bodies to develop and pass legislation that advances justice, primarily in the areas of economic justice, criminal justice, and tax reform. The Policy Department also provides training and current political context for our member congregations as they carry out their responsibilities as citizens and persons of faith.
