Violence Reduction Press Conference

Community Renewal Society

Low participation in Chicago’s property tax rebate program has resulted in a surplus of $14 million for the city. We are proposing that this money be spent on a comprehensive violence prevention and youth development strategy to relieve the crisis of violence in our communities. Our three-pronged proposal uses funds to:

  • Provide vulnerable youths with trauma-informed case management and counseling programs for at-risk youths.
  • Extend One Summer Chicago Summer Youth Employment Program to fund year-round jobs.
  • Expand Mayor’s Mentoring Initiative to provide positive social support to at-risk youths.
