Educated at Morehouse College and an Alum of Columbia College College, Rev. Damon has used his education to earn a fellowship of the prestigious Washington Center, worked as a Legislative Researcher for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, and has served as Communications Director, Outreach Director and New Media Marketing and Promotional consultant to a diverse array of clients from elected officials, entertainers, festivals venues, and social justice causes.

Baptized at Trinity United Church of Christ by Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Jr. where he served in many ministries, Rev. Smith is the Associate Minister of Social Justice and Special Projects as well as the Youth Minister at Liberty Family Church of Chicago. There he teaches young adult Bible study, works with the Bridge Young Adult Ministry, organizes town hall meetings on many social justice and anti-racism issues, as well as Gospel Jam Sessions for the Addicted To Christ ministry. Rev. Smith has also served in many capacities for the Chicago Football Classic, the Bud Billiken Day Parade, as well as other events across Chicago.

Rev. Damon Smith is an active member of the NAACP, serves as Chaplain to the Chicago Area Morehouse College Alumni Association, active member of the Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and appointed Chaplain to the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Chicago Flotilla.

To sum up his ministerial mission, Rev. Damon Smith describes himself as, "A poetically political pastor, a slave to no one, but serves one master."
