We Demand a Stop to Wrongful Raids by the Chicago Police Department

We demand that the City of Chicago address the systemic abuse of unlawful warrants and home raids. The trauma that Ms. Anjanette Young faced when CPD wrongfully entered her home has been repeatedly endured by Black and Brown communities for decades. Too often, police break into homes with guns pointing, shouting expletives and frightening innocent children and families.

Too often, police enter the wrong homes and are not held accountable for the devastating impacts they have on the people whose rights they have violated. These violations occur mostly in Black and Latinx communities — Englewood, Austin Englewood, Austin, North Lawndale, Garfield Park and Humboldt Park.

As a result of this injustice, Community Renewal Society, along with our coalition partners who oversee the implementation of the Consent Decree, has filed a lawsuit demanding that the City meet with us to address this injustice. Our communities must be heard and CPD must be held accountable.
