My Congregation Votes Campaign
Community Renewal Society presents My Congregation Votes, a campaign to encourage voter engagement and civic participation in the upcoming mid-term and municipal elections. CRS will coordinate various events during the month of October to promote voter registration in our member congregations, as well as provide a voter guide that will help inform local and statewide communities. We look forward to partnering with you to work to build electoral power and push for progressive leaders and legislation.
Why We Vote
Voting is a vital tool of democracy, especially in a time when we face so many social justice issues in Illinois and across the nation. We are fighting for economic justice, police accountability, criminal justice reform and protection of the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community.
As people of faith, we build community with our member congregations. Voting enables us to use our voice together to advance legislative policies. All over the country, voting rights are under attack, through the loss of voting protections included in the 1965 Voting Right Act, new state laws requiring photo IDs, and restricted use of early voting and mail-in voting. All of these impact access to the vote and disproportionately impact Black, Brown and indigenous communities.
Here are four election steps to share with your congregation now:
Mark your calendar to vote in-person on November 8.
Apply to serve as an election judge in Cook County.
Register for a mail-in ballot before October 11.
Vote early starting October 24.

We hear God's call to justice for all people, and we believe that voting is one of the ways we bring our voices of faith into the public arena. Community Renewal Society believes voting rights are intrinsically connected to our work to eliminate barriers due to racism and poverty.
