CCPSA Meeting

  • Gurdon S. Hubbard High School 6200 South Hamlin Avenue Chicago, IL, 60629 (map)

Join CRS at the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (CCPSA)’s monthly public meeting. Parking is available onsite.

The Commission previously announced that it had invited the Chicago Police Department (CPD) Superintendent, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) Chief Administrator, and the Inspector General to be on a panel at the Commission’s meeting on February 26 to discuss CPD compliance with the Welcoming City Ordinance and relevant CPD policies, and related public safety concerns. The Superintendent is not available to attend the Commission’s February meeting, but it is essential that the Superintendent speak publicly to these concerns. The Commission is actively working with his office to schedule a date as soon as possible when he can participate.

At the February 26 meeting, LaKenya White, Interim Chief Administrator of COPA, and Tobara Richardson, Deputy Inspector General for Public Safety, will participate on the public panel. The discussion will focus on existing policies and procedures, training, oversight, and accountability systems designed to ensure compliance with the Welcoming City Ordinance and relevant CPD directives, and to identify whether changes to laws, policies, procedures, training, or accountability measures may be warranted in response to community concerns.

The Commission will provide additional information about the meeting with the Superintendent as soon as it is scheduled.

Those unable to attend the meeting in-person can join virtually via Zoom.

Agenda items include:
