Until Freedom
It is Love that underscores our striving. Community Renewal Society (CRS) points to this instrument in the pursuit of justice; the stakes of which could touch the sky. Communities are facing rampant attacks from the presidential administration on their progressive endeavors, whether regarding disability rights, reproductive rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, civil rights, and so forth.
Arrests by Immigration and Customs Enforcement sweep the United States. As racist raids remain routine, people across the country hit the streets in unison to affirm that no one is illegal on stolen land. What then should we carry forward?
Solidarity is Love in motion. Our liberation is won through our solidarity. And solidarity expresses Love in its most active form: justice.
CRS calls you to action that is motivated by Love for your neighbors near and far, following in the footsteps of activists, such as Fannie Lou Hamer, who in August 1964 courageously delivered a speech exposing systemic racism, voter suppression, and violence. Get involved! History is not a coincidence; it is made in the striving, the solidarity, and the Love we have for each other to resist, to win, to reassess, and to do it again until freedom. Why stop now?
Black August, a month of tribute to fallen freedom fighters like Bayard Rustin, whose death anniversary is approaching on the 24th, as well as current champions of liberation movements, is a chance to give Love with CRS.
We must mobilize in solidarity in the present, with an understanding of our past, because victory comes to those prepared for the night. And the night is history.
